The world's first eco-battery made from recycled batteries

'Everyone said making a battery with recycled battery material couldn't be done, but our scientists wouldn't take no for an answer. They discovered a way to refine and transform recycled material—true closed loop innovation—to make our (Energizer's®) longest-lasting alkaline battery.' - Michelle Atkinson, CMO Energizer,Inc.

Taking into account consumer desires... which extend from just long-lasting batteries, but also eco friendly batteries, Energizer Inc. has created a battery which is made from 4% recycled material and are recyclable themselves. They hope for the percentage to increase in the future.

Using breakthrough technology, Energizer EcoAdvanced batteries are constructed from transformed battery material created into a high performance active ingredient.

These batteries are efficient, and the idea is that with longer lasting and efficient batteries, consumers use fewer batteries and create less waste. Additionally, less virgin material is used in the making of the batteries.

According to SITA, "In Australia, about 350 million batteries are purchased every year. Over two thirds of batteries being disposed of are sent to landfill making them the most common form of hazardous waste"
