Can you cut 1 Tonne of carbon pollution out of your life?
Take the challengeLegendary duo Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin have been friends for decades.
The pair struck up a friendship when Fonda went to see Tomlin in Appearing Nitely on Broadway, "When I saw her it blew my mind." Says Fonda, who then went on to cast Tomlin in her film 9 to 5 which also featured Dolly Parton.

The pair recently sat down for the TED talk 'Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin: A hilarious celebration of lifelong female friendship'. On its own, the discourse is a gorgeous salutation to the joy both women have had in their lives, in particular, the strong female bonds they've encountered along the way.
However, from about the 12:30 mark they struck a chord that is close to our hearts. Fonda urged women that they have the power to make choices that will champion the cause of climate action.

Fonda says that women set the consumer standards, and it is therefor up to women to set the benchmark. We need to consume less. "We [the Western world] need to buy things that are made locally. When we buy food we need to buy food that is grown locally…We need to make ourselves independent from fossil fuels."
It's so encouraging to see women of all walks taking up the gauntlet, and that we are doing it as a community and sisterhood.
As Fonda says, "I don't even know what I would do without my women friends…I exist because I have my women friends."
