Tiny Houses That Will Inspire You To Live With Less

People around the world are rejecting the conventional mansion dream and downsizing the space they live in instead, this is the tiny house movement.

These houses come in all shapes, sizes and forms, some are on wheels and some are stationary, but the general idea is the same... minimalist living. People are joining this revolutionary movement for an array of reasons, whether it be environmental concerns, financial concerns or a search for freedom.

Here's some of our favourite tiny homes:

1. This artist builds tiny houses for homeless people using discarded materials.

This altruist artist uses discarded materials to build tiny homes for displaced individuals in Oakland. It takes a creative mind to look at a pile of discarded junk on the street and see the building blocks for a house, but that's exactly how Gregory Kloehn's mind works.

2. This Tiny House Family built an incredible home for under $12,000US

This family of four live mortgage-free in their 320 sq. foot home built from salvaged materials. This stunning tiny house features a loft sleeping area, a porch and sun-drenched kitchen.

3. Trailer Tiny House

An American couple Cori and Patrick who moved to New Zealand built this stunning tiny house with 80% recycled materials. Crafted from a repainted storage locker, remade crates into an entertainment centre, secondhand roofing materials and even a suitcase turned into a cabinet in the bathroom.

4. House of Windows

Not quite as small as other tiny houses, however this stunning house never shuts off from the sunset. The photographer Nick Olsen and fashion designer Lilah Horwitz built this house from recycled windows in the enchanting mountains of West Virginia.

5. The Story Book House

Built by innovative architect Dan Phillips of the Phoenix Commotion, The Story Book House is an amalgamation of every house Dan has ever seen in a storybook. It would literally be like living in a fairytale.

6. Tiny Barn House

This architect Aaron Maret used reclaimed barn wood to build the facade, a vintage salvaged door from a 1920's farmhouse and recovered sheathing from an art studio to build this charming tiny house.
