5 sustainable gift alternatives for those typical Christmas presents!

While we have said that the best presents to buy are experiences and moments... or simply nothing at all... many of you will still have those people that maybe you have to buy a tangible present for. Or maybe you simply would like to get them something. But make sure you choose the most sustainable option!

Here are five present ideas with a sustainable alternative:

Perfume

Lush perfume is ethically and environmentally friendly sourced. Lush supports suppliers that respect the environment, as well as the animals and people living there. They world diligently with all their suppliers to minimise their environmental impact.

Perfume is a typical gift (which i never quite understood), but this year, if you want to give perfume as a present. Try Lush's great range of perfumes.

Jeans

Always a favourite gift of mine! Nudie Jeans have had a 100% organic denim collection since 2006. Nudie jeans are a member of the Fair Wear Foundation, which verifies that member companies implement a Code of Labour Practice along their supply chain and checks compliance by monitoring audits and remediation efforts. They are a member of Textile Exchange, which is a non-profit organisation that supports the farming and trading of organically grown cotton. They have also found many ways to recycle jeans, such as cutting and milling old jeans down to a cotton-like pulp which become raw material for new yarn. In 2013 Nudie Jeans made rugs from jeans that were cut into strips and then woven by hand.

Nudie jeans fit both genders, but on their website the models are only male. So don't get confused. Their jeans can be found in many stores around Australia, such as General Pants Co.
