Summer Cocktail Recipes for your hot Australian Christmas

We really are dreaming of a white Christmas, but settle for some cocktails in the sun instead?

For Australians, we don't really know what it's like having the first snow fall to signify the festive season, or what snuggling up next to the fire and singing Christmas Carols is like... No, our Christmas consists of steamy hot summer nights and even hotter sunny days. Where we eat our Christmas lunch, then rush to find the first bit of water we can, whether it be a beach, lake, pond, or hose.

These summer cocktail recipe's, courtesy of GreenBrideGuide , could be the perfect treat for your Australian Christmas!

This one is kind of wacky, but great!

Pink Lemonade Jello Shots

  • 12 whole organic lemons
  • 1 cup pink lemonade
  • 2 packages plain gelatin
  • 1 cup Vodka

Cut the lemons in half. Scoop out the insides. Add the lemonade to a saucepan, sprinkle the gelatin over the juice. Let it sit for 2 minutes. Heat the lemonade over low heat, stirring, until the gelatin has dissolved, about 5 minutes. Stir in the organic vodka. Pour into the lemon halves and refrigerate for 4 hours.

Watermelon Sangria

1 bottle of organic or fair trade red wine

1 cup of tequila

1/2 a cup of fresh squeezed orange juice

1/4 cup of fresh squeezed organic lime juice

1/2 a cup of brown organic sugar

Sliced watermelon to taste
