Incentives and rebates available to help electrify our homes in Australia

With the reinstating of the Australian federal government comes a new nation-wide scheme for Cheaper Home Batteries starting on July 1, meaning cheaper upfront costs for home batteries, helping thousands of australians to store the cheap energy they produce with their solar systems.

States and territories across Australia are also continuing to roll out programs to help electrify households, making our energy bills more affordable and lowers carbon emissions - it's a win win.

If you are looking to reduce the initial price tag of electrification or energy upgrades we've compiled a list of all the Australia-wide rebates and state by state opportunities you need to know! (As of June 2025)

You can find a list of Government Energy rebate schemes on the link here.

State Incentives and Rebates

New South Wales

Household energy saving upgradesIncentives offering discounts on the upfront costs of replacing or installing new energy efficient equipment in homes. The amount of money saved will depend on the appliance model or equipment chosen. It's important to get quotes from multiple installers to get the best deal for differing circumstances.

Hot water system upgrades

Connect batteries to a Virtual Power Plant

The incentive to connect a battery to a Virtual Power Plant (connected groups of solar batteries allowing excess power to be shared during times of peak demand) will increase from Tuesday, 1 July, 2025.

The payment for connecting a 27 kWh battery to a Virtual Power Plant has the potential to almost double from up to $800 to up to $1,500 from 1 July.

This incentive can also be combined with the federal government's Cheaper Home Batteries program. Connecting to a VPP allows excess electricity to be sold to the grid to power neighbours' homes while getting paid.

Lower taxed hybrid and electric vehicles
