Homemade remedies for an itchy, flaky scalp

We have shared a few of our homemade beauty and skincare recipes in the past, so here are a few that are perfect for an itchy, flaky scalp!

Homemade beauty products are great because you're buying less through using something you already have at home, your reducing the amount of packaging you consume and exposing yourself to less chemicals and hidden nasties in commercial products.

Here are the top 3 I have found, we have tested and can say with certainty definitely work for dry, flaky scalps!

1. Coconut oil:

We LOVE the wonder that is sustainable coconut oil. In the recent blog post, ' one product seven uses: The wonders of coconut oil ' we talk about the medical use for coconut oil. It can help yeast infections, vaginal dryness, ear infections, cold sores, nosebleeds, bug bites and it can help soothe your itchy dry scalp! Just massage into scalp, leave for a few hours and then wash out. Yes, your hair may be a little oily after this one... but you'll smell amazing!

2. Apple cider vinegar:

A lot of people can't stand the smell of Apple cider vinegar, but I love it! Apple cider vinegar is said to have anti-fungal properties, mix with some water and use it to rinse hair.

3. Plus there is this 4-ingredient DIY Hair mask, mega moisturising hair mask:

Ingredients:

(Can be adjusted depending on hair length and thickness, or how much avocado is leftover from your brekky)

1 tablespoon coconut oil, gently heated so it's soft enough to mix with other ingredients

1/2 banana, mashed

1 egg

1/2 avocado

Simply mix all ingredients in a bowl then apply to damp hair, massaging it in well.

Leave for about 20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
