The Food Babe changing the world

Vani Hari, also known as the Food Babe is changing the world by taking on big companies and demanding real change.

Over the last three years, FoodBabe.com has become a powerful vehicle for change due to the dedication of Vani and all those that go there to read and share the information they learn.

Some of her greatest achievements include getting Kellogg's & General Mills to remove GMO beet sugar from Cheerios, getting Chick-fil-A to go antibiotic free, getting Subway to remove a plastic chemical from their bread and getting Kraft to remove dyes from their popular Mac and Cheese.

Vani, AKA the Food Babe is the perfect example of one person making a big difference!

Every time you take out your wallet at the grocery store or at a restaurant, you eat with your dollars. If we all start eating with our dollars in the best way for our health and our planet, we can show the government, chemical companies and food manufacturers that we won't stand for less and we want high quality and nutritious foods

A great way to make a difference is by rethinking the way you buy food, and embracing the Locavoremovement. Here are some tips to get you started...

Know your seasons and shop at your local farmers market: Seasonal Food Guide Australia helps all Australian's to by local produce by sharing information on which foods are available when and where. Just click the link above.

Turn your garden bed into a mini-farm to grow your own food: Any produce you can grow at home will reduce CO2 emissions from the food supply chain in areas including transport and processing.

Growing your own also makes a surprisingly powerful statement about reducing our reliance on others for basic sustenance, and therefore helps us to foster independence for taking further positive action.

Eat Natural... It's Greener and Good For You Too: Eating well is great for us and the planet. Learning to cook and cater with minimum waste and maximum yumminess is a fantastic life skill too.

Say no to fast food, takeaway and processed foods whenever you can. Go for fresh fruit and vegetables, lean meats and healthy grains and cereals. Learn to cook some tasty vegetarian meals too. Also avoid wasting food and be smart with using leftovers.
