DIY Toothpaste – After 2 weeks of testing

Inspired by Lauren Singers Zero Waste lifestyle and her self-made toothpaste, I decided to try her recipe.

After 2 weeks of testing I can say that the DIY toothpaste works for me. The main difference compared to conventional toothpaste is the taste. This was something I really had to get used to at the beginning. It is really salty and I added a couple of more drops of essential peppermint oil to my toothpaste to get a more minty flavour.

What I like about the DIY toothpaste is that it feels less aggressive towards your gums. There is no burning that you sometimes get when brushing your teeth. Also my teeth feel very clean and smooth.

I was concerned about the baking soda at the beginning, but I haven't experienced any negative effects so far.

My teeth feel as clean as before. In general I think the DIY toothpaste is a good and healthy alternative. It is not only healthier for your body; you also cut down on plastic packaging. So you're not only treating your body well, you're also doing something good for the environment.

Check out the recipe here.
