I'm involved

Listen to the women making change

Getting involved in 1 Million Women is easy - simply join and follow the steps to start reducing carbon emissions. Our goal is to empower 1 Million Women to collectively cut 1 million tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2), the main greenhouse gas pollutant triggering climate change.

When you join you will be taken to a selection of CO2 cutting activities covering your household, food, cars and getting around, flights, shopping and renewable energy.

Select activities that work for you and start cutting CO2 now. To stay on course to reach your 1 tonne saving, track your progress within the activity centre.
By registering, you are joining daughters, mothers, sisters and grandmothers inspiring climate action.

Here are a few of our CO2 saving activities

Within the activity centre there are over 50 CO2 saving activities that you can chose from. They cover household, food, transport, flights, shopping and renewable energy. Here are just a few.

  • Say 'NO' to wasteful packaging, plastic bags and bottled water.

Reject or cut back on these bad-for-the-environment items: over-packaged products, non-recyclable packaging, plastic bags and bottled water when tap water is available. As consumers we have the power to say NO. Save up to 150kg of C02pollution.

  • Reduce red meat in your diet.

Manage your weekly diet to include lots of cereals, fruits and vegetables, and cutting out one red meat meal a week, you can save approx. 195kg of C02 in a year and 10,000 litres of water.

  • Reduce wasting food by managing it better every day

Up to 30% of food we buy is wasted, at an estimated national cost of $5 billion-plus a year. Cut down on waste by not letting food go out of date, avoiding over-catering and looking after any leftovers. Save up to 200kg of CO2 pollution.

  • Reuse everything you can & save money by avoiding over-consumption

Everything we buy has its own CO2 pollution story and every year an estimated $5billion is spend of stuff we rarely or never use Take up the personal challenge to find reuse options wherever you can: refillable coffee mugs and water bottles, reusable food storage containers, second hand items, rechargeable batteries, and a lot more. Save up to 200kg of CO2 pollution.
