VIDEO: DIY - How to make the BEST homemade peanut butter

After you make Peanut Butter at home for the first time, you'll never want to buy it in the store again...

This is the first DIY video from my new project BronteCarlo , which is an online vintage clothes store I've started in Brazil, as well as a DIY and food blog with a vibe for living better for the planet.

It's always a good idea to make homemade food items if you can, rather than buying them in a store. When cooking yourself, you avoid the addition of unnecessary chemicals, sugars and other harmful ingredients. Also, many of the products you buy are made by companies or bought in stores who don't necessarily respect the environment. (Plus, making things like spreads and jams at home gives you a chance to reuse all the glass jars you've been keeping).

Every time you go to reach for a packaged product, I encourage you to leave it on the shelf and ask how you can make it yourself. Like peanut butter for example! It has to be one of the easiest things to make at home, and its 10,000 times more delicious and healthier too.

Watch the DIY video to see how to do it, and a full recipe explanation is below.

Ingredients

  1. 2 cups of unsalted peanuts
  2. 1 teaspoon of salt
  3. 1 tablespoon olive oil
  4. 1 tablespoon honey

Directions

  1. 1.  Add peanuts to a food processor or blender and pulse until they start clumping together like butter. This can take around 2 – 3 minutes.
  2. 2. Add the salt, olive oil and honey.
  3. 3. Then pulse for another minute until the butter is glossy and creamy like a smooth peanut butter.
  4. 4. Put it in a jar or container with a lid.
  5. 5. Keep it in the fridge and consume within 30 days.

**If you want a sweeter peanut butter you can add more honey, or if you think its not creamy enough then add a little more oil. Be careful not to add too much.
