IMAGES: Designer Transforms Thrift Store Clothes Into Trendy Outfits

This is what you do when your disheartened with the state of the fashion industry...

A few years ago, South Carolina-based writer and designer Jillian Owens decided that she wanted to change how the world approaches fashion.

Disheartened with the rise of fashion giants, she began exploring local thrift stores to find second hand and vintage pieces that had the possibility to be reworked.

"I was worried about the impact on our planet as people tossed out their one-time-wear duds more and more quickly to make room for the newer & cheaper clothing."

So on a regular basis, Owens finds thrift store pieces that are filled with fashion-forward possibilities. She takes them home, chops, hems, dyes or reworks them into a brand new outfit, from an item which often only cost her $1!

New clothes hanging in the closet without breaking the bank, and without adding more environmental pressures related to consumption! We love it. Check out many more styles on her blog, Refashionista , but here's some fabulous picture of her clothing creations to brighten up your day.
