If you care about the environment, chances are you have already taken steps to avoid polluting it.
Perhaps you drive a hybrid or electric vehicle, or you use a tote for your groceries instead of plastic bags. However, once you've exhausted the obvious options, it can be hard to find new ways to help reduce your footprint on the earth.
If you find yourself in this position, here are a few ideas you might not have considered.
In some countries, such as Japan, a new way to reuse old plastic has arisen. Plastic to fuel converters can be very popular, and some can even convert the plastic into different types of fuel. Plastics are made out of oil, you see, but until now there has not been a reliable way for consumers to convert their waste plastic back into usable oil. However, machines such as the Blest Machine that can convert plastic bags and bottles back into oil will become available for public use within the next 5-10 years.
Tip: If you want to start recycling your plastic now, why not try a bottle cap mosaic or take up plastic bag weaving ?
Smells Like Spring
You may not think about products you apply to your skin in the context of saving the environment, but maybe you should. Organic and natural deodorants are springing onto the market with fresh and delicious scents like vanilla, citrus, and valley rose. There are even natural deodorants that promote tanning, as well as extra-strength versions for customers who like to work up a sweat every now and then. If you find the idea of natural deodorants interesting, you can read an excellent review of several brands here .
Garden worms may seem like creepy crawlies, but they can be extremely helpful when it comes to recycling. If you don't have a compost bin, consider starting one to help you recycle old food and plant materials. Once you have one started, add a few worms to it. You may be surprised at how much more quickly those stinky leftovers turn into fresh dirt when there are a few worms eating at them. Once the bin is full, you can reward your worms by placing them - and your new fertilizer - all over your garden. They'll keep recycling old plant matter into new earth, which will keep your garden looking just a little more green.
Fun fact: An earth worm can eat up to one third of its own body weight in just one day!
Whether or not you take an interest in any of these particular environmentally friendly options, you should still challenge yourself to do your most to keep our world healthy.
