Nanny's "whatever you have" Chocolate slice

The following guest post is from Matix, Sarah's 2 year old son.

I've had an amazing day with Nanny.

We got to make our special chocolate slice, it's always so much fun! We use whatever dry leftovers we have in the cupboard, so they always taste different at the end (but always delicious)!

I wanted to share my Nanny's chocolate slice with you. Mum told me it's a great way to reduce food waste -  all I know is, it's delicious.

Base ingredients:

170g melted butter

1 cup brown sugar

Now here's the part that's always a bit different, you can substitute any of these dry ingredients for whatever you have in the pantry.

1/4 cup almond meal

3/4 cup self raising flour (you need a cup of flour - whatever you have will do)

1 cup raw muesli - we used Morning Sun

1 cup Just right -any cereal will do!

1/3 cup dessicated coconut

1 tablespoon cooking cocoa

Method:

- Mix it all together.

- Press in tin.

- Cook about 20 minutes at 180 degrees (or so)

For the Icing:

knob of butter

icing sugar (about 8 tablespoons)

milk (a bit - dessertspoon)

cocoa (about a tablespoon)

- mix till a nice consistency and ice slice when hot

- You can even put a couple of drops of peppermint essence if you want into the icing.

-On top of the icing you can sprinkle nuts (if not allergic), or coconut or anything else you like!
